Forestry

Currently, Finca La Merced has two forestry programs

  • Pine wood harvest: The harvest of pine trees has a self-sustainable program in a 20 year cycle, where trees are re-planted after being felled. In order to harvest each and every one of these trees, the INAB (acronym in Spanish for National Forest Institute) provides the authorization.
  • Forest conservation: An area is determined for the preservation of each of the regional species with the goal of caring for the environment. This has been possible with the agreement of the PARPA (acronym for Support Program to Agricultural Productive Reconversion), which is a program within the Ministry of Agriculture.
